Modou was born in Brufut. He attended the
Franco-Arab High School in Dakar in the 1980s. He later won
a scholarship to study Islam at the Islamic Institute of Algiers,
Algeria. He later traveled to Saudi Arabia, where he worked
as a supervisor and telephone technician for Sharbatly Village,
a housing development project in Jeddah.
Upon his return to The Gambia, Modou helped establish Studio
River Gambia, the first studio in the Gambia to start video
productions in naming and wedding ceremonies. Studio River
Gambia became very successful.
Modou is the founder and president of HighTech Wireless,
in Detroit. Sometimes, he deputizes for the Gambian Imam,
Alhagi Ceesay, in a host of functions including funerals
and christenings.
He enjoys playing soccer, movies, reading and working out.
He is one of the most loyal fans of the Gambian soccer team
in Detroit, having traveled with the team to Atlanta and
Chicago numerous times in the past.
