Sierra
Dem was born in Georgetown (one of the most historical
cities a.k.a Jangjang Bureh) The Gambia. Sierra
is one of the grand children of Mansa Musa Molloh (son
of the great warrior Alfa Molloh) who conquered and established
the kingdom of Fuladu (the land of the Firdunkees/Fulas).
Sierra is a single
mother blessed with two beautiful children. She has an
Associates of Applied Science Degree in Computer Information
System from Chattahoochee Technical College, Atlanta
Georgia and also has a Bachelors of Science in Network
Security from Davenport University in Michigan.
Sierra was actively
involved in the on going progress and fundraising activities
of all the major student organizations during her college
years. Sierra actively served as the Vice President for
VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America), ISO (International
Student Organization) and chairperson for AITP (Association
for Information Technology Professionals, also a member
of SGA (Student Government Organization).
As you can see,
Sierra has dedicated valuable voluntary time to teaching
students, the importance of education, values of cultural
diversity, leadership and inter-personal relationship
skills in high schools and leadership seminars in and
around Atlanta, Georgia.
Sierra worked 8
years with the US Peace Corps/ The Gambia as a Language
and Cultural assistant training Manager, 4 years as Front
Desk Supervisor/ Marriot Hotel, 3 years as Network Administrator/
SBC Ameritech, 4 years as Provisioning and High Speed
Technical Support/ Comcast and currently as a VoIP Tier
II Support Technician for A C N (American Communication
Network).
Sierra has joined
the Michigan Gambian Association in 2004. She has served
as the Social Secretary for one year, and currently the
Vice President. Sierra is very receptive, compassionate,
goal driven, focused and a woman of substance.
Sierra loves to
play Scrabble, travel (favorite) and Air Hockey. She
enjoys motivating and encouraging people on theirs goals
and objectives.
